Workshop in Cosmology

Standard Cosmology at the Threshold of Change?

Thessaloniki, Greece, June 3-6, 2024

Topic, Aim & Location

The meeting will focus on current challenges facing the standard cosmological model. Key topics will include the intriguing aspects of cosmic dipoles, the S8 tension, the bulk-flow question, the Hubble tension and the JWST observations. Our aim is to explore the observational status of these issues, as well as examine the main theoretical approaches proposed to address them.

The workshop appeals to a broad audience of researchers working on both theoretical and observational cosmology, with experience and expertise levels ranging from that of senior researchers to those of postgraduate students. Advanced undergraduates, with interests in cosmology, should also be able to follow and appreciate the majority of the presentations. The same is also true for astrophysicists and physicists with expertise other than cosmology.

The meeting is organised by the Cosmology Group in the Astronomy Lab of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the venue is within the university campus near the city center. The workshop and the accompanying events are funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation, under the three-year research project ``Tilted Cosmology''.
